Yesterday, Azerbaijani and Armenian deputies met in Istanbul.
At the meeting, Azerbaijan was represented by the head of its delegation to the OSCE PA, Qaya Məmmədov, and members Azay Quliyev, Pərvin Kərimzadə, Gülşən Paşayeva. The Armenian delegation was led by Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the “Civil Contract” faction.
During the talks, the positive role of the Washington summit was noted, and views were exchanged on the agreements reached and the next steps taken towards strengthening peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the importance of the support of both countries' parliaments for this process.
It should be noted that the meeting took place within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session held in Turkey.
Turkey's representative in the organization, ruling party deputy Selami Altınok told Modern.az that he also met with the deputies from Azerbaijan.
“We have been together with our Azerbaijani brothers for 2-3 days. We met and had lunch with deputies from the member states of the Organization of Turkic States - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, as well as observer members - Hungary and Turkmenistan. I greeted the Armenian deputies briefly".
Selami Altınok said that Armenian deputies delivered speeches full of praise for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the OSCE meeting:
“At the general meeting, Members of Parliament from Armenia spoke with praise about the work done by Azerbaijani President Mr. Ilham Aliyev. A female deputy from Armenia delivered a speech praising Azerbaijan, speaking about the good results achieved at the meeting held in Washington on August 8, as well as Mr. Ilham Aliyev's subsequent excellent speeches and very good work".
The Turkish deputy once again emphasized that Ankara is working for peace in the South Caucasus.
