This forum will be a beginning, not the last, it will be continuous. Very few people understand the interests of the US in the South Caucasus.
Modern.az reports that these words were stated by John Herbst, Senior Director of the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council, during his speech at the first Azerbaijan-US think tanks Forum held in Baku on November 18.
He stated that the holding of the first Azerbaijan-US Forum will contribute to expanding cooperation and mutual collaboration between Baku and Washington in the future. We will cooperate closely with Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries in various ways to ensure that such forums are held in the future as well.
“The results of the meetings held between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump are considered extremely successful for both Azerbaijan and the neighboring states of the region. The turning point in US-Azerbaijan relations was the important document signed between President Ilham Aliyev, President Donald Trump, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This has created an important basis for the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” John Herbst added.
He stated that Central Asia is a priority region for the US.
“It is no coincidence that we have gathered in Baku after the C5+1 summit held in Washington. Soon, this platform will become C6+1 with the accession of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the importance of our relations is further increasing,” John Herbst noted.
