France's Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin visited the Sante Prison in Paris to meet with the country's former president Nicolas Sarkozy.

Modern.az reports that, according to "Le Figaro", the meeting took place on the evening of October 29 with the participation of the prison director and lasted 45 minutes.

One of the main topics was the detention conditions of the 70-year-old former president.

Darmanin also spoke with prison staff for approximately one hour. It had previously been announced that two inmates from Sante Prison in Paris would be brought before the court for threatening France's former president Nicolas Sarkozy.

On September 25, the court found France's ex-president Sarkozy guilty in the "Libyan case" concerning the financing of his election campaign by former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2007. The investigation lasted more than 10 years. The court found no legal violations in the campaign's financing but found Sarkozy guilty of allowing his supporters, acting on his behalf, to receive financial support from Libya, and also considered diplomatic countermeasures.

Sarkozy was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

He was admitted to Sante Prison on October 21.
