Modern.az reports that Simonyan stated in a statement to journalists that there are no real political rivals to the government in the country.
“There are people who only hurl insults, but offer nothing. What have they offered recently regarding peace or the future of the country? Other than joining the Russia-Belarus union state? (Hinting at Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan - ed.). What kind of policy do they have?”, - Simonyan stated.
The speaker also emphasized that individuals responsible before the law should not go unpunished:
“As for those in custody, we are actually late. When the people demanded an “iron mandate”, it meant that individuals who committed crimes but then ran for office should not go unpunished”.
It should be recalled that on October 20, law enforcement agencies conducted a search at Gyumri City Hall. It was later revealed that city mayor Vardan Ghukasyan and seven other individuals were detained on charges of bribery. The court ordered a two-month pre-trial detention for Ghukasyan.
