“Should the chairman of AzTV be criticized or praised for wanting to buy a helicopter?
In recent days, criticisms regarding AzTV chairman Rovshan Mammadov's “desire to buy a helicopter” and the honorariums he paid to creative staff have been on the agenda. However, the matter appears somewhat different”.
Modern.az reports that information technology expert Osman Gündüz said this while commenting on the circulating rumors.
“I believe that, in fact, it would be more appropriate to praise AzTV, as well as ITV and other television channels, for such an initiative.
If the goal is to expand the television's filming and technological capabilities, and to obtain operational footage from remote and difficult areas – especially from the regions and Karabakh – then this is a normal and even necessary technical decision.
Most powerful TV channels in the world use helicopters for aerial filming and for operational efficiency.
At a time when an information war is ongoing in the region and globally, innovations and technologies, such as drones and helicopters, are of significant importance for the competitiveness of TV channels.
Both the drone, the helicopter, and the “AzTV bus” intended for filming have their own functionalities.
The discussion is not about filming weddings with a drone, but about producing operational news.
Perhaps what should be criticized is not the purchase of the helicopter, but the failure to properly explain such initiatives to the public.
In my opinion, if the AzTV management had presented the matter transparently and with justification, the “helicopter” dispute would not have escalated to this extent,” Osman Gündüz stated.
According to some media outlets, the results of the audit conducted by the Chamber of Accounts at "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" CJSC were announced after Rovshan Mammadov's desire to purchase a filming helicopter for AzTV.
