Theologian Elshad Miri shared information about the private plane of the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade. He wrote about this, referring to the 6th part of Turkey's "Asırlık Gece" documentary. He noted that the 6th part of the film talked about the desire of Professor Mehmet Görmez, the head of Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate, to send Sheikh-ul-Islam's private plane on the day of the coup.
Modern.az contacted Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade's brother, MP Javanşir Pashazade regarding the issue.
In his statement to our website, he thanked Elshad Miri:
"I thank Elshad Miri very much for bringing such an issue to our people. With this, he truly reminded us once again that Azerbaijan and the people of Azerbaijan stood behind the people of Turkey in their difficult days. Such an action by His Holiness Sheikh-ul-Islam is very satisfactory. Elshad Miri also reminded the people of this. It is our fraternal duty that both countries support each other in problems in each other's territory. At that time, as a representative of the brotherly country, Sheikh-ul-Islam called and offered his help."
"When talking to another country from Azerbaijan, when we say "ours", we are talking about the property of the Azerbaijani people, on behalf of the Azerbaijani people. The planes in Azerbaijan, yes, are ours. We have about 50 planes. As a country, we are very strong. When he talks, he can say "I would ask" or "I would organize". He said this as support."
C. Pashazade did not accept the claims that Sheikh-ul-Islam had a private plane:
"Those who claim that the plane is private should apply to the state, this is not a motorcycle. If there is one, learn from the state. Indeed, Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood is shown here. Each of us is ready to support within our means. This is what it's about. When there is an event in another country, the state allocates a plane for Sheikh-ul-Islam and he participates in the events with his staff as necessary. This is the condition created by the state for him not for personal reasons, but for the work he does. All of Azerbaijan knows this" - he emphasized in the end.
