Two Azerbaijani sailors died as a result of a repeated drone attack on the “TEDY” tugboat sailing under the Somali flag in the Black Sea.
Modern.az reports that the Public Union “Support to Azerbaijani Seafarers” disseminated information about this.
According to the information, the “TEDY” tugboat, owned by “Mert Marine Corporation” and with IMO number 9059200, was subjected to a drone attack near the port of Odessa yesterday morning.
The 10-person crew of the ship included 4 citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Turkey, 2 of Germany, and 1 of Ukraine.
It is reported that the tugboat was attacked by two drones again while moving towards the port of Constanta, Romania, at night. As a result of the incident, Azerbaijani sailors Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov lost their lives.
It was noted that the other two Azerbaijani sailors suffered burn injuries and are currently being treated in one of the hospitals in the city of Odessa.
The Public Union “Support to Azerbaijani Seafarers” called on sailors to refrain from working in risky areas:
“The greatest gain is to return home safely to your family. Make every decision with this thought in mind.”
