In Georgia, 1,426 people renounced their citizenship in 2025. Among them are citizens of Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that, according to Sakstat's report, 10 of those who renounced Georgian citizenship were citizens of Azerbaijan.
According to the information, Russia ranks first among those who renounced citizenship with 639 people. Greece comes next with 203 people, Turkey with 121 people, and Israel with 81 people. Ukraine (41), USA (39), Armenia (37), Germany (28), Great Britain (11) are also on the list.
The report also states that 2,333 people obtained citizenship in Georgia in 2025, which is 35 percent or 1,254 people less than in the previous year.
According to the information, more than 75 percent of those who obtained citizenship are persons born in Georgia. Russian citizens were the most numerous among the new citizens. Thus, 1,393 Russian citizens obtained Georgian citizenship. Germany (296), Ukraine (114) and Armenia (104) ranked next.
The top ten also included the USA (81), Israel (71), Turkey (62), Greece (43) and Great Britain (23).
In total, 39,061 people have obtained Georgian citizenship in the last 10 years. The highest indicator was recorded in 2022, after which a decrease is observed.
