A dangerous situation has arisen with drinking water in Tsav, an ancient Azerbaijani village located in the Syunik (Western Zangazur) province of Armenia.
Modern.az reports that, according to the Armenian Ministry of Health, mercury levels in water samples from the village were found to exceed the maximum permissible limit. After an initial investigation, specialists took samples from four different points in the village to re-check the water condition. The samples included water from the water supply source and from taps in residents' homes.
The results obtained on September 11 confirmed the deviation from the norm in the water.
In this regard, Tsav residents have been advised not to drink or use the water for domestic needs until its quality is restored. The authorities are organizing the provision of safe water to the village and are trying to identify the factors causing the water pollution.
It should be noted that Tsav village, located on the border with Azerbaijan, belongs to the Kapan community. The Bestichay river, which flows into Azerbaijan, passes near the village.
