Milli Majlis adopted a Statement on the sixth anniversary of November 8 - Victory Day.
Modern.az reports that the text of the Statement was read out by MP Hikmat Babaoglu at today's plenary session of the parliament.
The Statement noted that Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Patriotic War was possible thanks to the unity of the people, the army and the state, and the political and military leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
It was noted that the historic Victory achieved in 2020 laid the foundation for the full restoration of Azerbaijan's state sovereignty in September 2023. The breaching of defense lines considered impassable in the Patriotic War and the liberation of Shusha on November 8 were particularly emphasized.
The Statement also touched upon the importance of the Washington agreements reached on August 8, 2025, with the participation of US President Donald Trump. The signing of a joint declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the initialing of the text of the peace agreement were assessed as an important step towards long-term peace in the region.
It was emphasized that in order to ensure lasting peace, it is important to put an end to territorial claims, fulfill the agreements reached, and eliminate hostile tendencies.
The document noted the necessity for the international community to respect the sovereign choice of the countries in the region and support direct dialogue.
Attention was also drawn to the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories and the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands.
The Statement was put to a vote and adopted.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, during her speech at today's plenary session.
She stated that the victory achieved under the leadership of the President, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, has, over the years, paved the way for the restoration of greater justice, the strengthening of statehood, and the full assurance of our territorial integrity and sovereignty. The existence of the criminal junta regime operating in the territory of Azerbaijan has been ended.
The political, economic, and military potential created as a result of great efforts found its embodiment in the historic victory. The implementation of resolutions of the UN Security Council and other organizations that remained on paper has been ensured. Our victory in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur reflects its real content.
