Hungary rejects Armenian and Georgian citizens

The Hungarian government is suspending the issuance of work visas to citizens of Armenia, Georgia, and the Philippines starting today.

Modern.az reports that Vanda Sondi, an official representative of the country's government, made a statement about this.

According to her, the decision was made amid concerns about the impact of foreign workers on the local labor market.

“The government believes that the increase in foreign labor could slow down wage growth for local workers,” Sondi said.

She noted that this step is considered the first stage in regulating the flow of foreign workers into the country.

However, foreign workers currently in Hungary will be able to apply for an extension of their permits. Applications submitted earlier will be reviewed in the prescribed manner.
