German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made a statement regarding the European Union's enlargement policy.
Modern.az reports that Merz emphasized the importance of the European Union demonstrating its readiness to accept new members.
"The European Union must show that it is capable of enlargement and ready for it," the German Chancellor stressed.
According to him, not accepting new members in the last 13 years indicates certain problems.
"If we have not accepted new members for 13 years, this, in a sense, also shows the European Union's own failures," Merz added.
