Record hot weather in Germany has seriously affected transport operations.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that in Leipzig, extreme temperatures caused asphalt and bitumen to soften and spread to tram rails. For this reason, the operation of the entire tram network in the city has been temporarily suspended, as movement on the rails was considered dangerous. Authorities said they took this step to ensure the safety of passengers.
Experts do not rule out that high temperatures pose a serious risk to infrastructure and that similar problems may occur in other cities if the heat continues.
