The European Commission has fined "Google" a total of 890 million euros (approximately 1 billion US dollars) for violating the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Modern.az reports that, according to the European Commission, the first fine of 460 million euros is related to "Google" giving preference to its own services in search results. It was determined that the company displayed its services higher than competitors in online shopping, hotels, transport, and sports.
The second fine of 430 million euros is related to the "Google Play" app store. The regulatory p determined that the company restricted the ability of app developers to inform users about alternative methods of purchasing digital products and services outside the platform.
The European Commission has instructed "Google" to eliminate the identified violations within 60 days. Otherwise, the company may face additional fines of up to 5 percent of its global annual turnover.
