In the wake of the devastating flood disaster in Nepal and China's Tibet region, clarification has been provided on whether there are Azerbaijani citizens among the victims.

Modern.az website sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) regarding this.

Ayxan Hajizade, head of the Press Service Department of the MFA, stated in response to the inquiry that no information has been received about Azerbaijani citizens being injured as a result of the natural disaster.

For information, the number of missing persons as a result of the devastating flood disaster in Nepal and China has approached 1,500.

In China's Tibet region, 558 people have been declared missing. Thus, the fate of approximately 1,400-1,500 people in total across the two countries is unknown.

The disaster began with the collapse of a glacier in the Himalayas, causing powerful floods and mudslides. The natural disaster has caused serious damage to important transport routes, settlements, and infrastructure between Nepal and China.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Difficult terrain, destroyed roads, and communication problems complicate the work of rescuers. According to official data, the number of dead continues to rise.
