The arrested father and mother of İsa Aras Mersinli, accused of carrying out the school attack that resulted in the death of a teacher and 9 students in Kahramanmaraş, appeared before the judge for the first time.
Modern.az reports that the father Uğur Mersinli, who is a police chief inspector, confirmed in his testimony in court that the person who committed the incident was his son, saying, “A case should have been opened against him, not me.”
The court panel decided by a majority vote to release the mother Peyman Pınar Mersinli, and unanimously decided to continue the detention of the father Uğur Mersinli.
It should be noted that on April 15, İsa Aras Mersinli committed a terrorist act at Ayşe Çalık Secondary School with 5 firearms and 7 magazines belonging to his father Uğur Mersinli. As a result of the incident, one teacher and 9 students lost their lives, and 15 students were injured. The attacker İsa Aras Mersinli was neutralized with a knife by Necmettin Bekçi, who entered the school after hearing gunshots.
After the incident, Mersinli's father Uğur Mersinli, who is a police chief inspector, and his mother Peyman Pınar Mersinli, who is a teacher, were arrested.
