In Armenia, within the framework of the TRIPP project, preliminary designs of highways, railways and power lines will be submitted for public discussion in the near future. After that, more detailed design work will begin.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said this on Thursday at a government meeting, speaking about the results of his visit to the Meghri region.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, during the visit, government members familiarized themselves with the areas where future infrastructure facilities will be located. Grigoryan was accompanied on the trip by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, as well as the head of the Urban Development Committee Egiazar Vardanyan.
At the current stage, the project envisages the creation of railways, highways and power lines.
Grigoryan noted that the situation with the railway route is clear. It was simply necessary to re-evaluate the condition of tunnels and other structures. Design work in this direction will begin in the near future. Many issues related to the laying of power lines are also already clear.
However, there is a need for discussions regarding the highway route. This is because there are difficult-to-access sections in the area where the road will pass.
“We must solve this issue so that the road is competitive for transit transportation,” the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
According to M. Grigoryan, it is possible to start design work in all three directions without waiting for the full formation of the Armenian-American company that will manage the TRIPP project. Later, the results of the work done will be handed over to that company.
Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the agreement on TRIPP was discussed a day earlier in the parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. The document is expected to be considered at the parliament's plenary session a week later.
According to the minister, the process of creating a joint Armenian-American company is in its final stage.
