"Claims circulating in some media outlets and social media accounts about an "attempt to lower the Turkish flag in Azerbaijan" are disinformation."
Modern.az reports that this was shared on the "X" account of the Turkish Presidential Administration's Center for Combating Disinformation.
It was stated that the images in question are old:
"At the time the images were taken, the first and strongest reaction to the provocation attempting to act negatively against the Turkish flag was given by Azerbaijani citizens. An incident such as the lowering of the Turkish flag did not occur," the post noted.
The Center emphasized that presenting old images as a new event and disseminating them out of context targets the friendship and brotherhood relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The public was called upon to be sensitive and careful against such manipulation.
