"Turkey-Azerbaijan relations should not be instrumentalized for daily politics. These relations have deep, ancient, and much deeper historical ties. As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized, these relations go far beyond the relations between two states."
Modern.az reports that these words were said by Shamil Ayrım, chairman of the Turkey-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations working group, during his speech in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
He stated that he strongly condemns the expressions targeting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, his family, and independent Azerbaijan:
"Criticism is one thing, but using excessive and insulting expressions is a completely different matter. The rostrum of our Grand Assembly should be a platform for ideas and words that strengthen our brotherhood. The position of the AK Party, our government, and the People's Alliance is concrete. The framework set by our President should not be exceeded. Turkey is strong, dear Azerbaijan is strong. One nation, two states - together we are stronger."
