The situation regarding the "Peace Council" initiated by US President Donald Trump remains uncertain.

Modern.az reports that, according to the "Financial Times", the main goal of the Peace Council's initiative called "Gaza Reconstruction, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust" (GREAT Trust) was to restore the destroyed infrastructure, revive the economy and improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. However, the fund aiming at the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip has faced serious problems in its activities.

Despite four months since its establishment, the fund has not yet attracted any financial resources and has not started the implementation of the planned reconstruction projects in the region.

According to the information, donor countries and organizations are reluctant to allocate funds to the fund managed by the World Bank. Legal uncertainty, political risks and security problems hinder the implementation of the project.

The idea of establishing the fund came to the agenda at the beginning of 2026 with the participation of the USA and a number of international partners. It was reported that the USA, Saudi Arabia, UAE, European Union countries, Japan and some international financial institutions would support the initiative in the initial stage. The management mechanism was formed under the World Bank.

However, experts believe that the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, unresolved governance issues in Gaza, and the lack of security guarantees cause donors to act cautiously. These factors have slowed down the fund's activities, making the realization of the planned programs impossible.
