The conflict in Ukraine should end after 10 years.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the air of WDR 1LIVE channel.
"I hope that in 10 years the war will end. And this will result in Ukraine becoming an independent, free and sovereign state," she noted.
It should be recalled that discussions about candidates who could play a mediating role in possible negotiations with Russia in Europe were previously known to be ongoing. However, the main problem is that the European Union countries cannot agree on a single candidate.
Among the individuals discussed are Angela Merkel, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
However, Merkel refused to mediate negotiations between Russia and the European Union. In her opinion, contacts regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine should remain the responsibility of acting heads of state and government.
