Iran has summoned France's ambassador to Tehran, Nicolas Roche, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Modern.az reports that the reason for this was the intervention of French law enforcement agencies in the protests of schoolchildren and students.
The Iranian side expressed its protest to the ambassador and accused the French authorities of using violence against the demonstrators. Tehran stated that “numerous and gross human rights violations” were recorded during the actions.
Ismayil Bagai, spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had earlier criticized the attitude of French security forces towards protesters and called on the Paris authorities to respect human rights.
It should be noted that protests by schoolchildren and students have expanded in France since mid-September. Issues such as education funding, school conditions and teacher shortages are raised in the actions. During the protests, clashes between police and demonstrators, numerous detentions and injuries were recorded.
