European Union foreign ministers plan to approve approximately 1,600 new sanctions against Russia on October 12.

Modern.az reports with reference to "The Kyiv Independent" that the list targeting Russia's military-industrial complex was unanimously agreed upon by EU ambassadors on October 7. This is the largest new sanctions list submitted for approval by the institution to date.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas criticized the suspension of sanctions on Russian diesel. According to her, this step increases Moscow's revenues to finance the war. Kallas emphasized that it is not time to reduce pressure on Russia.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump announced on October 9 that an agreement on diesel supplies from Russia was reached after talks with Vladimir Putin. European partners, however, stated that they would continue sanctions against Russia.
