Russia is allegedly using civilian cargo ships to send military equipment and special service personnel to Africa.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in a joint investigation by the "Dossier" Center, "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and other European media organizations.
Journalists identified 28 suspicious passengers on three ro-ro ships and four dry cargo ships carrying equipment for the Russian Ministry of Defense's "Africa Corps".
According to the authors of the investigation, no records were found about these individuals in the databases they checked. It was determined that their non-biometric foreign passports were issued in bulk with consecutive numbers.
Sources in European intelligence claim that these individuals are Russian special service employees operating under false identities.
The investigation also cited the "Sabetta" dry cargo ship, which serves "Rosatom"'s special projects, as an example. It was stated that in March, the ship delivered approximately 50 armored vehicles and fuel trucks to Conakry, the capital of Guinea, to be subsequently sent to Mali.
According to the claim, in addition to military cargo, there were also four passengers whose identities were concealed on the ship.
