US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff is preparing to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 21 to present a new peace proposal to end the war in Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that “Axios” spread information about this, citing a US official.
It was stated that Witkoff will visit Russia after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, representatives of European countries, and NATO officials in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
During the talks, the preparation of a unified proposal to stop the war was discussed. According to the American side, the parties have made significant progress regarding the next steps.
The Ukrainian delegation also put forward new proposals at the meeting.
Donald Trump's advisor Jared Kushner is expected to join Witkoff's meeting with Putin, which is planned to be held in St. Petersburg, online.
Washington hopes that the new proposals will create conditions for direct negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.
