Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Ararat Mirzoyan stated that incidents involving shepherds crossing the Azerbaijan-Armenia border can occur. According to him, the parties approach such cases constructively.
Modern.az reports that Mirzoyan spoke about this on October 21 at a meeting of the Parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
The minister commented on the information about an Azerbaijani shepherd crossing the state border of Armenia.
“Such cases sometimes happen. An Azerbaijani shepherd can also get lost and cross the border. However, this can also happen from our side. Both sides approach such cases constructively,” Mirzoyan said.
The minister noted that incidents similar to the Shaki incident can also occur and positively assessed the parties' attitude in such situations.
“Cases similar to the Shaki incident can also occur. It should be noted that the approaches here are also quite adequate,” he emphasized.
According to A. Mirzoyan, it is impossible to completely prevent such situations in real life. In his opinion, this can only be achieved by building a wall along the border.
“I hope that we will not start building walls and will come to more joint solutions,” said the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
He said that he knows there are also negative aspects to such incidents and added that stopping all relations, closing off, and returning to conflict because of such cases is not the best way for Armenia.
It should be recalled that, according to information disseminated by Armenian media today, an Azerbaijani shepherd who crossed into the territory of that country was detained. The incident occurred in the direction of Chinari village in Armenia's Tavush province. It was noted that he has already been taken to Yerevan.
