Former Attorney General of Chihuahua state in Mexico, Cesar Jauregui, has been accused of treason.

According to the Mexican federal prosecutor's office, the former official is accused of facilitating the participation of US agents in an anti-drug operation on the country's territory without the consent of the federal government.
The case concerns an operation carried out in April on a facility suspected of being involved in drug production in Chihuahua state.
The incident came to light after two American agents who participated in the operation died in a road accident.
The court issued an initial arrest warrant for Jauregui. It is reported that the case could affect security cooperation between the US and Mexico.
