French President Emmanuel Macron said that demonstrations planned for the coming days, with the exception of actions organized by trade unions, will be banned.
Modern.az reports that Emmanuel Macron said this at the end of a meeting dedicated to the upcoming protest actions and attended by government members.
“Now is not the time for protests. We all need to return to calm,” Macron said.
He accused radical left-wing groups of the riots that occurred on October 17. According to the president, the goal of these groups is to destroy the republic.
It should be noted that on October 17, mass demonstrations were held in Paris and other cities of France to protest against the increase in fuel prices and the decrease in the purchasing power of the population. According to the organizers of the action, 800,000 people participated in the demonstrations. The French Ministry of Internal Affairs, however, announced the number of participants as 550,000. This figure exceeded the forecasts previously given by security agency analysts by two times. In a number of cities, protests turned into riots and clashes with the police. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said that measures to bring those involved in looting and robberies to justice will continue.
