The total number of detainees after the riots in France on October 17 reached 2,700.

Modern.az reports that the country's Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, stated this in a statement to journalists.

“In total, 2,700 people have been detained, 217 of whom have been in custody since Saturday,” the minister said.

He noted that half of those arrested had no previous convictions. “Indeed, extremely harsh measures have been taken,” he added.

It should be noted that on October 17, mass demonstrations were held in Paris and other French cities against the increase in fuel prices and the decrease in the purchasing power of the population. According to the organizers, 800,000 people participated in the actions.
