US President Donald Trump believes he has the right to run for president again, claiming his victory in the 2020 elections was stolen.
Modern.az reports that the White House chief spoke about this during his speech in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Although he admitted that the 22nd amendment to the US Constitution limits how many times a president can be elected, he claimed the elections were rigged.
“I think the law provides for it – I'm not 100 percent sure, but in my opinion, the law prohibits me from running again. I have examined the text of this provision... They committed fraud. They rigged the elections. The Democrats rigged those elections. Although we had a very good result. No, we won three times, but whatever... I believe I have the right to run again. Because they rigged the elections,” Trump said.
It should be noted that according to the 22nd amendment to the US Constitution, no one can be elected president more than twice. Trump has previously hinted several times at the possibility of running for president for a third time, and then categorically stated that such an opportunity does not exist.
Midterm elections will be held in the US on November 3. All 435 members of the House of Representatives, as well as 35 members of the Senate, will be elected in the elections. Of them, 33 will be determined in the next elections of Class II senators, and two in special elections for vacant seats in Florida and Ohio.
Elections to the US Congress are held in two stages: first, intra-party primary elections (primaries), and then general elections.
The next general elections, in which the US president will be elected, will be held on November 7, 2028.
