Tamam Azizova, considered the oldest resident in Azerbaijan, has passed away.

Modern.az reports that Tamam Azizova, a resident of Lankaran born in 1890, died at the Lankaran District Central Hospital where she was receiving treatment. According to information, she had been receiving treatment in serious condition in the hospital's intensive care unit for the last five days.

Tamam Azizova was considered the oldest resident in Azerbaijan. Her age was reported to be 136, which is approximately 20 years older than the internationally officially confirmed oldest people. However, international confirmation of information about individuals over 130 years old is considered a complex process, based on birth certificates, archival materials, and other official records.

Azerbaijan is considered one of the countries known for its long-lived residents, and information about people over 100 years old often comes to the fore, especially in regions such as Lerik, Lankaran, and Yardimli. Currently, the world's oldest resident is considered to be British Ethel Keterhem. She lives in Surrey, England, and was born in 1909. She is currently 116 years old.
