The VII Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in Baku, concluded with the adoption of several important decisions.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the information disseminated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA).
It was noted that the Baku Declaration and the Statement on Occupational Safety and Health were adopted within the framework of the summit.
At the same time, Laos became a full member of CICA.
Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the organization was extended for 2026–2028 in recognition of its effective leadership.
In addition, Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev was appointed Secretary General of CICA for 2026–2030.
With Cambodia's ratification of the relevant convention, the process required for the entry into force of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the CICA Secretariat has been completed.
The MFA's information also emphasized that commitments to multilateral cooperation, transport links, and strengthening peace and security in Asia have been renewed.
It was stated that Azerbaijan is committed to strengthening CICA as a platform for dialogue, confidence building, and joint action.
