The University of California, Berkeley campus is seeing a sharp increase in the number of students failing introductory computer science courses.

Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that this issue is widely discussed at the university. According to the information, 35 percent of students failed the exam in one of the main computer science courses. However, in previous semesters, this indicator was approximately 7 percent.

Teachers cite two main reasons for the situation. One of them is the excessive use of artificial intelligence tools by students, and the other is the weak basic knowledge of mathematics of first-year students.

According to the teaching staff, many students rely too much on artificial intelligence tools to complete assignments. As a result, they have difficulty demonstrating the knowledge and skills required during tests and exams.
