It is reported that the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran attacked a merchant ship in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
Modern.az reports that images related to the incident have been spread on social networks.
According to preliminary information, a strong fire started on the ship after the attack.
The Iranian side justifies military measures against ships in the region by violating navigation rules and using unauthorized routes.
It is reported that nearby ships and relevant services were warned about a possible danger in connection with the incident.
It should be noted that attacks on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz have intensified in recent days. This has increased concerns about security in the strategically important sea route.
