Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced his readiness to leave office after his term expires in 2030.
Modern.az reports that RIA Novosti disseminated this information.
“The Egyptian Constitution is inviolable. The upcoming period – I mean 2030 – will be the end of my presidential term. This issue has been definitively resolved and is not a subject for discussion,” the head of state said.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has led Egypt since 2014. He was elected president for a second term in 2018. In 2019, as a result of a referendum held in the country, he was given the opportunity to run for president again. With those changes, the presidential term was also agreed to be extended from four to six years.
