President Ilham Aliyev's speech via video link at the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, held on May 4, 2026, with the participation of leaders of several countries and European organizations, was built on several key messages.
The speech touched upon economic relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It was stated that serious steps have been taken towards the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and to date, 28 thousand tons of cargo have been delivered from Azerbaijan to Armenia and 12 thousand tons of oil products have been exported.
The commissioning of the Zangazur corridor will allow more cargo to be transported through the region, and at the same time, enable the countries of the region to benefit more from it. This means the beginning of trade relations.
Later, in his speech, the President stated that the European Parliament (EP) was taking steps aimed at sabotaging the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and sharply criticized the EP.
The biased and provocative activities of the European Parliament against Azerbaijan have already become systematic and consistent.
It is clear that they have no intention of abandoning these provocations. It is also clear that despite all attempts and provocations, Azerbaijan's liberation of its lands and implementation of an independent policy under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev seriously disturbs them.
I would like to note that the European Parliament should draw conclusions from the message of the President of Azerbaijan. These provocations cannot affect the principled and resolute policy pursued by Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
