Azerbaijan may be one of the 35 countries most affected by water scarcity by 2050.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev at a press conference on the implementation of the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and issues arising from the State Program for 2026-2030, dedicated to agricultural issues.
According to the Deputy Minister, in recent years, against the background of climate change, both a decrease in water resources and serious changes in the precipitation regime have been observed.
“The duration and frequency of rainfall are changing, which directly affects the agricultural sector. Our country will be among the 35 countries that will suffer from water scarcity by 2050,” Z. Aliyev noted.
