A former deputy of Buryatia has been released after serving his sentence early for hitting and killing a 17-year-old girl with a car and fleeing the scene.
Modern.az reports with reference to Russian media that in 2020, an expensive car hit and killed 17-year-old Galina. After the accident, the person driving the car and those with him fled the scene.
In 2021, Bair Jambalov was sentenced to 6 years in a settlement colony.
Later, his sentence was replaced with compulsory public works, and then the former official was allowed to serve his sentence at home.
In total, Jambalov spent about 4 years in a colony and another year in compulsory work.
The prosecutor's office protested his release and appealed the decision. However, the Supreme Court of Buryatia did not satisfy the prosecutor's complaint.
