Climate change in the Caspian region could lead to the migration of more than 2.5 million people by 2050.

Modern.az reports that Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced World Bank data during his speech at the Caspian Ecological Summit.

He stated that the severe ecological situation of the Caspian Sea cannot be assessed separately from large-scale climate changes in the region.

According to Tokayev, forecasts show that temperatures in some parts of the region could rise by 5 degrees by the end of the century. This will accelerate the melting of ice, intensify water scarcity, drought, and land degradation.
