Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented his vision on how relations between the two countries should be built after the signing and ratification of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that Pashinyan proposed that there should be no enclaves and exclaves between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and that this issue should be resolved through the mutual exchange of territories of equal area.
According to the Prime Minister, the territory of Armenia should be 29,743 square kilometers, and the delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan should be carried out on the basis of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
Pashinyan stated that all roads and transport communications between the two countries should be opened. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring transport communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Armenia.
The Armenian Prime Minister noted that the parties should not put forward any territorial claims against each other. According to him, this principle should also apply to issues related to the concepts of Karabakh, Nakhchivan, and Western Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan added that after his contacts with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Turkmenistan, he came to the conclusion that such a peace between the two countries is realistic.
It should be noted that the text of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was initialed in Washington on August 8, 2025. The final signing and ratification of the document have not yet been carried out.
