Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has made a statement about his country's position in the world and the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
Modern.az reports that in a message published on the occasion of Defense Week, Khamenei stated that some people consider Iran to be the fourth superpower in the world. He said that this is based on secular calculations, but according to his religious views, he considers Iran to be the world's number one power.
Khamenei claimed that after the strikes of Iranian forces, enemy forces are afraid to approach the Strait of Hormuz and do not advance from the Arabian Sea. He expressed his belief that these forces will be removed from the Arabian Sea in the future.
Writing “Iran became the fourth superpower in the world” in the title would change the meaning of the quote: Khamenei did not present this as a confirmed indicator, but said “some people think so.”
