Weak and moderate magnetic storms are expected on Earth on Friday.
Modern.az reports that Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at Russia's Fobos weather center, said this.
According to him, this week began with increased solar activity.
"Several M-class flares, belonging to the second-to-last category among possible intensity levels on the Sun, occurred. Two of them, recorded in the first half of Tuesday, released two relatively large plasma clouds in the direction of Earth," Leus said.
The expert noted that, according to international forecast centers, clouds of solar matter will reach Earth early Friday morning.
"Turbulence in the geomagnetic field will last approximately two days. On October 9, weak and moderate magnetic storms of G1-G2 level are possible. The probability of magnetic storms is approximately 80 percent," he emphasized.
Leus added that the planet's geomagnetic field is predicted to return to a calm state on Sunday.
