Syria has denied reports that Saudi Arabia appealed to Damascus to send troops to Yemen.
Modern.az reports that the Syrian president's press secretary stated on his X account that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries is closely linked to the security of Syria.
“In Damascus, we stand with our brothers in Saudi Arabia with all our strength and determination. However, the information spread by some media outlets that the kingdom wants to send Syrian forces to Saudi Arabia or Yemen is false and has no basis,” he noted.
Earlier, Axios wrote that Syria was considering the possibility of sending 10,000 to 20,000 troops to Yemen to fight against the Houthis.
The publication claimed that Damascus and Riyadh consulted with Washington on this issue, and the US side did not object to the proposal. The report also stated that Washington believed such a step would strengthen relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria.
