Another oil tanker has hit a mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

Modern.az reports with reference to IRIB that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a statement regarding this.

"A supertanker violating the rules hit a sea mine in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz this afternoon, with an explosion and fire in the engine room," the statement said.

It was stated that this vessel carrying crude oil, which wanted to exit the Strait of Hormuz, had turned off all navigation systems: "The vessel violated the laws of the Strait of Hormuz (rules announced by Iran - ed.) and crashed because it passed through an unauthorized route.

This is the third oil tanker violating the rules that has hit sea mines and caught fire in the unauthorized route of the Strait of Hormuz since yesterday."

The IRGC Naval Forces have declared that all vessels that turn off navigation and identification systems in the Strait of Hormuz area will be recognized as enemies and strict measures will be taken against them.

It should be recalled that the Iranian side announced yesterday that a large oil tanker had hit a mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) claims that the ships were hit by an unknown projectile.
