It was stated that the historical and residential buildings destroyed in Shusha during the occupation period are a bitter example of the impact of conflicts on cities.

Modern.az reports that Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), said this during the discussion titled "The Middle East Crisis and its Impacts on Global Housing and Urbanization" within the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

"My family is from Shusha. My grandfather had a house in Shusha. That house was confiscated by the Soviet government in the 1930s and used as a boarding school for orphans. During the Armenian occupation, the house was completely destroyed. When I went to Shusha after the war, I only saw the remains of stones," he said.
