Azerbaijan, especially its capital Baku, is undergoing a rapid and large-scale development phase.

Modern.az reports that these remarks were made by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev via video link at the official opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

He noted that in a short period, entire cities have been restored in the liberated territories, and new residential complexes and modern infrastructure facilities have been built.

“Taking this opportunity, I want to emphasize that Uzbekistan is also ready to make a worthy contribution to such noble initiatives.”

He also emphasized that the forum's main theme, “Ensuring the world with safe and sustainable cities and communities,” remains relevant today.

He also stated that within the framework of the “Green Space” and “Clean Air” programs, the goal is to increase the level of greenery in cities to 30 percent by 2030.

“The New Tashkent megaproject has also been presented as an example of Uzbekistan's urbanization strategy. The project, designed for 2 million people, will apply the principles of “green,” “smart,” safe, and “15-minute city.”

In the first phase of the project, investment projects worth more than 25 billion dollars have been launched. The concept of the project is presented at the Urban Expo exhibition held within the framework of the forum,” he said.

Sh. Mirziyoyev called on partner countries to pay more attention to the development of small and medium-sized cities. He also proposed holding WUF15 in New Tashkent in 2030 to ensure equal use of digital transformation opportunities in urban governance.
