When diplomatic service is terminated due to conscription for fixed-term active military or alternative service, the employee is expected to be paid an allowance equal to 3 times the average monthly state salary.
Modern.az reports that the issue was reflected in the draft law "On Diplomatic Service" discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
The appointment of persons returning from military service and applying within 60 days to their previous position or an analogous position was also reflected in the draft.
The list of periods to be included in the diplomatic service experience is also expanded in the amendments. This includes the period of forced absence from work, the period of temporary loss of working capacity, paid social leaves, the period of activity in international organizations, and the years of service of heads of state bodies.
According to the draft law, the changes are expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
The issue was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
