According to the results of the population census, the largest proportion of the Georgian population falls into the 35-39 age groups (7.6%), 10-14 years (7.4%) and 30-34 years (7.2%). It should also be noted that the number of women in the 85 and older age group is particularly high and 2.6 times more than men.
According to the population census, the population of Tbilisi is 1,331,485 people, which constitutes 34 percent of the Georgian population. The second and third largest regions by population are Imereti (510,741) and Kvemo Kartli (Borchali) (441,630) regions, which account for 13 and 11 percent of the population, respectively.
"According to international methodology, all Georgian citizens permanently residing in the country, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons located within the country, were included in the census," the statement said.
