The Ankara Regional Court of Justice has annulled the congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Turkey's main opposition party, held in 2023.
Modern.az, citing NTV television, reports that according to the court's decision, Özgür Özel has been removed from the position of CHP chairman, and the party's former chairman, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has been temporarily reinstated to the chairman post.
The Ankara Regional Court of Justice concluded that the 38th congress of the CHP, held on November 4-5, 2023, was legally invalid and confirmed the annulment of the decisions adopted at the congress.
According to the decision, Özgür Özel, as well as the members of the Central Executive Board and the High Disciplinary Board, have been removed from their positions.
In addition, it was decided that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the previous party council, and the members of the High Disciplinary Board would temporarily take over the party's management as a precautionary measure.
