Restoration and reconstruction works carried out in Kalbajar lay the foundation for a new life in the region.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Bashir Hajiyev, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Kalbajar district, at the event titled “Lachin and Kalbajar: the path from urbicide to post-conflict reconstruction” within the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
The special representative emphasized that life is returning to Kalbajar, and residents are returning to their native lands, their ancestral homes.
“This return has deep moral and historical significance for Azerbaijan. The restoration and construction works and the relocation process are not only physical reconstruction but also an indicator of Azerbaijan's moral victory.”
B. Hajiyev also added that the return of Kalbajar residents, who lived as internally displaced persons for many years, to their native lands means not only the end of the period of forced displacement but also a return to national, historical, and spiritual heritage:
“Longing for the homeland, lost homes, memories, and deep feelings associated with these lands are invaluable for every former internally displaced person. The return to Kalbajar will create an opportunity for residents to build a new life in their native lands, preserving their identity, culture, language, and traditions.
We are very happy and proud to be living witnesses of these historical events,” he noted.
